Borrowed from the Dad

My dad's got a lot of great attributes. If he says he will do something, he will do it - he is a man of his word. He is the handiest person I know. If he doesn't already know something, he will learn it. He is fanatical about tennis and plays almost every day. He is a care-taker, well-read, athletic, inquisitive, quiet but always observant, retired and lives in his sweats without a care. But he is also stuffy. And getting stuffier by the year.

And of all the attributes for me to inherit from my dad, I think I am stuffy-getting-stuffier too.

Webster Dictionary's definition number four of the word stuffy is "narrowly inflexible in standards or conduct" and "stiffly conventional."

I can already see developing in me - If I have things placed "just so" they should be left that way. Rules need to be followed because. Don't mess with my morning routine, it will ruin my day and then I will ruin yours. Once I'm home and have changed into my "comfy clothes," that's it, I am done for the day - unless the house catches fires or we run out of Nillas, I ain't leaving!

And I am afraid the list may continue to grow ...

So as you get older, what's an attribute - good, bad, other - that you're finding out you've inherited from one of your parents?
