Fluro Yellow Gone Studious

It's pretty apparent that the majority of the copy on my blog posts have about nothing to do with my outfit pics, and today's post will probably be even more so. But it gives me a bit of a reminder that though I spent a most of my youth and teens wearing an awkward mish mash of boyish whatever, I think a colorful little fashionista always lived inside of me.

I was talking to my mom recently when we started reminiscing about “old times,” specifically when we were living on the Jersey Shore during my pre- and K years. I spent a lot of time on the beach during that period since we lived right across the street, and when it was summer I was usually found prancing around in some sort of swimsuit. I was a tan little child.

One suit in particular was a rainbow tie dyed masterpiece of a one-piece. Bright swirls of every color under the sun existed on that scoop-necked wonder. It was a complete take away from my usual tomboy self and neither of us could remember who decided to buy me that wonder, but I loved it. The colors. The swirls. Together. I wore it almost every chance I got. I ate meals wearing that swimsuit. I wanted to take baths in that swimsuit. I wore it under regular clothes during the times where normal garb was required.

There exists one sole picture of me in that beloved one-piece – I had both hands on my waist, one hip stuck out, trying to look “sassy” in that funny awkward way that five-year-olds can make anything look. And I would have scanned and shared that pic, but thankfully it lives securely - in physical copy only - in one of my family’s photo albums. Though I was pretty sure I rocked that suit as a kindergartner, I am equally sure I’d be mortified to see that picture surface again.

Are there any wardrobe faves from your youth that still stand out in your mind?
